Greetings!

Greetings !

The April 4 launch of my book, Copernicus Avenue is fast approaching and the buzz is building. Here are a few events to look for in the coming days:

Now Available  - My story "Babayaga," from Copernicus Avenue, appears together with my essay "Conjuring the Copernican Universe" in The New Quarterly. Available at your local bookseller. http://www.tnq.ca/

Now Online - The first pre-publication interview with yours truly is up at the Torontoist, a web site devoted to cool happenings in the GTA. Check it out at http://torontoist.com/2011/03/writer_tells_stories_of_roncevalles_past.php

Tuesday, Mar. 8 - Writing Roncesvalles, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., High Park Library, 228 Roncesvalles Ave., Toronto. A literary panel on Roncesvalles (the real life Copernicus Avenue) and the imagination featuring novellists Pat Capponi, Ray Robertson, and Eva Stachniak and moderated by my good self. Seating is limited so come early!

Thursday, Mar. 10 - The New Quarterly’s Toronto Celebration takes place at the Tranzac Club, 292 Brunswick Ave. just south of Bloor.  I’ll be reading from “Babayaga,” the Copernicus Avenue story in TNQ’s latest issue. Doors open at 7 p.m., readings begin at 8.

Monday, April 4 - Copernicus Avenue Launch Party. 6-8 p.m. at Gate 403, 403 Roncesvalles Ave., Toronto.

Meanwhile, this month offers more opportunities than ever to catch up with my musical activities.

The Grayceful Daddies, Wednesdays at Alleycatz - The Daddies are serving up a mix of Vintage blues, swing and R'n'B every Wednesday at this way cool midtown venue at 2409 Yonge St., N. of Eglinton, 8:30 to midnight. Great food and an early, workweek-friendly start time.

Saturday, Mar. 5 - The Grayceful Daddies at Grossman's Tavern, 9:30 p.m. till closing, 379 Spadina Ave., Toronto. http://www.grossmanstavern.com/.

Saturday, Mar. 12 - The Grayceful Daddies duo (myself and sax player Neil "Realgonedaddy" Kitagawa) performs an intimate semi-unplugged early evening rendition of vintage Daddies material. Kelly's Korner, 3045 Kingston Rd., Scarborough, 4-8 p.m.

In one place/incarnation or another, I hope to see you soon!

  2. Hi Andy
Welcome to the 21st century blogosphere
    It looks good.
Had to be the first post. My first post had a spelling mistake and you just can't have that on a blog by a writer.
    Cheers
    Mark
